Akwa Ibom Deputy Governor Charges Mkpat Enin PDP Faithful
The Deputy Governor of Akwa Ibom State, Mr. Nsima Ekere, has charged all members of the Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP) in Mkpat Enin Local Government Area to bury their differences and work for the success of the party in the forthcoming local government election.
Addressing the party faithful gathered for the chairmanship re-run primary election on Tuesday at Uyo Township Stadium, Mr. Ekere stressed that the interest of Mkpat Enin was paramount and the chairmanship contest should not be allowed to tear the local government area apart.
He announced that Mr. Ephraim Akpan had been chosen as the PDP consensus chairmanship candidate by Mkpat Enin stakeholders after widespread consultations, explaining that nomination could be done by voting, consensus or affirmation.
The Deputy Governor said the vice-chairmanship seat has been reserved for women while the other chairmanship aspirants are to meet with the stakeholders to work out the nitty-gritty of appointments in a unity government to accommodate all interests as agreed upon by the stakeholders to ensure peace and unity in Mkpat Enin.
The State PDP Chairman, Mr. Paul Ekpo, expressed delight with the peaceful outcome of the exercise and thanked the Deputy Governor for his role.
The Member representing Mkpat Enin State Constituency in the House of Assembly, Barr. Ekong Sampson, said the stakeholders had to resort to the consensus arrangement to ensure that Mkpat Enin move forward.
