Chief (Dr.) Godswill O. Akpabio
Governor of Akwa Ibom State, Nigeria
September 27, 2009
His Excellency Chief (Dr.) Godswill O. Akpabio
Executive Governor of Akwa Ibom State
Uyo, Akwa Ibom State
On behalf of Akwa Ibom indigenes in the Diaspora, we join in celebrating the 22nd anniversary of the creation of Akwa Ibom State, congratulating and expressing genuine gratitude to the government and people of Akwa Ibom State.
Although our state is constitutionally of a very young age, we remain a people united for centuries in the timeless bond and strength of the akwa ibom spirit, which continues to be our inheritance passed through generations of rich traditions, strong value systems and great forefathers.
In that spirit, our sons and daughters have excelled in various human endeavors and fields, we have endured several seasons of failed hopes and challenges, and we have collectively registered many successes. It shall always be with us in order that we remain a people united in vision for a greater state and in the pursuit of peace, prosperity and happiness for all.
Akwa Ibom indigenes in the Diaspora have many special reasons for celebrating a positively re-branding state, counting various commissioned projects and democratic dividends in hand while remaining increasingly hopeful for the promise land now in the horizon and within our reach.
- In two short years of indexing extensive growths and various successes, your administration has earned the peoples’ trust and continued strong support through carefully planned and implemented policies framework designed to develop sound infrastructure for sustainable growth and social welfare.
- In commissioning the Akwa Ibom International Airport, you have launched a historic milestone – an icon of great pride for the Akwa Ibom people. Considered to be a vital part of the state’s economic engine, and set to significantly enhance the quality of living standards for most of our people and visitors, we believe that the airport is our collective investment for sustainable development.
We acknowledge and sincerely thank all persons involved in the conception, construction, and management phases of the airport project: the people of Akwa Ibom State who have demonstrated great patience and overwhelming support for the project; the political leadership and bureaucrats who have devoted much towards its success; and the technical team whose passion and ingenuity have overcome various difficulties and obstacles that threatened the construction of the airport facility.
Your Excellency – the Promise Keeper, we are particularly grateful for your servant leadership, audacity of vision, and an inexorable dedication to positively transforming and prospering our beloved state.
Like the overwhelming majority of our people in Akwa Ibom state, we have an abiding faith in your capacities to grow, develop and transform Akwa Ibom state into a modern destination place for all persons and businesses. Also, we are proud to identify with your leadership and administration, pledging our continued support in forms of professional expertise and other valuable contributions that further advance the growth of our state.
Thank you for making Akwa Ibom State the flagstaff of regional development and model for national growth. We endorse your continued good governance, praying for God to grant you much wisdom and guidance in the years ahead.
God bless Akwa Ibom State!
God bless the Federal Republic of Nigeria!
